Hazard Joins Chelsea…Again

Following the summer’s highest-profile transfer in Eden Hazard taking his talents to SW6, his younger brother Thorgan will be joining him after RC Lens confirmed the move this evening.

Antoine Sibierski, the club’s director of football, told his official website that the move should be official tomorrow, and that despite being offered a new contract (with his current deal expiring next summer), the younger Hazard was determined to join his brother at the newly-crowned European Champions.

A creative central midfield type, Thorgan is a talent in his own right but not of the same quality nor of the same potential as his older brother.

Whilst Eden and the third of four footballing brothers, 16 year-old Kylian, were developing at Lille, Thorgan instead plies his trade at cross-region rivals Lens, but despite the team languishing in Ligue 2, he hasn’t been able to make the breakthrough into their first team by the age of 19.

He will almost certainly join up with Dermot Drummy’s Under-21 squad, and add to the swelling ranks of brotherly relations at Stamford Bridge. Earlier this summer, the Musonda clan moved from Anderlecht, with 20 year-old Lamisha and 18 year-old Tika joining their more talented sibling, schoolboy Charly.

Last weekend we learned that Ivorian pair Vincent and Victorien Angban were now part of the Chelsea family, and whilst they’re not related, Billy and Conor Clifford and Ben and Ali Gordon sharing surnames simply adds a layer of confusion for keen observers of the youth ranks.

Look for Kylian Hazard to follow then…
