The Loan Report: October 15-21

We’re back with a full Loan Report after the international break, and we’ve got another Tammy Abraham goal, as he begins life under a new manager in positive fashion.

Headliners

Abraham’s form has been pretty good so far at Aston Villa, registering three goals in six games heading into the weekend, but the club’s overall record under Steve Bruce was woeful and led to a change of manager. Dean Smith is the new man in charge, with John Terry among his support staff, and they got off to a winning start by beating Swansea City 1-0 on Saturday, with Abraham grabbing the only goal of the game against the club he spent last season on loan with.

England

Premier League

Kurt Zouma was solid at the back in Everton’s 2-0 win at home to Crystal Palace.

Kenedy played all ninety minutes as Newcastle United became just the fourth team ever in English football to fail to win any of their first five home matches, losing 1-0 at Brighton.

Championship

Mason Mount returned to club action in style after receiving his first senior England call-up and was named Man of the Match in a 2-1 win against Sheffield United. Fikayo Tomori was also excellent in defence and the Rams, under Frank Lampard and Jody Morris, sit fifth in the table.

Reece James also continues to impress, earning more rave reviews as Wigan knocked West Brom off the top of the table with a 1-0 win at the DW Stadium. The 18 year-old has a growing number of fans:

Kasey Palmer earned the bragging rights over Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman as Blackburn beat Leeds 2-1, although none of them actually got onto the pitch, while Todd Kane continued at left wing-back for Hull City in a 1-1 draw at home to Preston North End.

Michael Hector, now a mainstay in the Sheffield Wednesday defence, played all of their defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday night, and there was also a defeat for Trevoh Chalobah as Ipswich fell to QPR, although the youngster was one of the few Town players to emerge with some credit from the outing.

Jay Dasilva was pressed into early action when Nathan Baker went off injured during Bristol City’s trip to Brentford, and he made his opportunity count, providing the assist for the late winning goal.

League One

Dujon Sterling, growing with every performance, was in good nick again as Coventry produced another late show to overcome Southend United and move into the top ten in the table.

Iké Ugbo returned from a short injury layoff as a second-half substitute in Scunthorpe’s defeat to Wycombe.

Brad Collins was the backup goalkeeper in Burton’s 3-2 win at Plymouth, but Charlie Colkett missed out again for Shrewsbury, this time with a foot injury that has seen him return to Chelsea for treatment.

League Two

Nathan Baxter was back in clean sheet mode, keeping his seventh shutout of the season in Yeovil’s goalless draw against playoff-chasing Tranmere Rovers.

Jacob Maddox played 82 minutes for Cheltenham in ‘El Glousico’ against their Gloucestershire rivals Forest Green Rovers.

Netherlands

Vitesse suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Excelsior on Saturday; Eduardo was in goal as usual, but Jake Clarke-Salter was forced off at half time after being taken ill.

Fankaty Dabo was forced off injured shortly before half time in Sparta Rotterdam’s 1-1 draw at Roda, and Kyle Scott – who scored his first professional goal last weekend – played all of Telstar’s 3-0 defeat at home to NEC Nijmegen.

Spain

Michy Batshuayi’s Valencia hosted Kenneth Omeruo’s Leganés on Saturday but the two were only on the pitch together for some ten minutes. Batshuayi came on after an hour, Omeruo was taken off in the 70th minute as he continues to build match fitness, and the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw.

Joao Rodriguez and Josi Quintero were unused subs for Tenerife and Lleida respectively.

Italy

Mario Pašalić played the final half an hour of Atalanta’s 5-1 win at Chievo while Ola Aina was an unused substitute as Torino drew 2-2 at Bologna.

Tiemoue Bakayoko played the last seven minutes of the Milan derby against Inter, a game his team lost in stoppage time.

Germany

Baba Rahman is still nowhere near the Schalke squad and faces a very questionable future at the Veltins-Arena. He hasn’t featured whatsoever since the 2-0 defeat to Hertha BSC on September 2nd.

France

Matt Miazga served a one-match suspension for accumulated yellow cards as Nantes beat Toulouse 4-0 on Saturday.

Victorien Angban was not involved in Metz’s win over Niort in Ligue 2.

Belgium

Kylian Hazard made his Cercle Brugge debut as a second-half substitute away to Anderlecht. Despite the 4-2 defeat, he made a decent impression coming off the bench, and could be in line for more playing time as a result.

Scotland

Ruben Sammut played ninety minutes but Falkirk lost 1-0 away to Morton.

Serbia

Danilo Pantic played all of Partizan’s goalless draw away to Spartak Subotica.

Brazil

Nathan was an unused substitute for Atlético-MG.
