Chalobah Signs Pro Terms

Having turned 17 last month, young defender Nathaniel Chalobah has this week agreed his first professional contract with Chelsea.

The England Under-19 international will put pen to paper on a deal which which keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least 2014. The two-year deal is a standard length for a first pro deal at the club but will likely have extension options involved.

Chalobah appeared in a Chelsea matchday squad for the first time in the Premier League last week by taking his place on a young substitute’s bench away to Wolves and may harbour outside hopes of a competitive debut this weekend in the FA Cup tie at home to Portsmouth.

Reserve team-mates George Saville and Adam Phillip have also agreed extensions with the club; Saville lengthening his stay until 2015 whilst Phillip has been granted an extra year until 2013 after suffering a serious injury at the start of this season, one which was scheduled to be the last under his remaining deal.

Congratulations to all.
