Bristol City Beaten as Youngsters Head for Asia

Chelsea’s Under-18 pre-season continued on Saturday morning with a 4-0 win over Bristol City.

A second-half brace from Jeremie Boga – including a delightful free-kick – was sandwiched by efforts from Walter Figueira and George Cole as Adi Viveash’s boys bounced back from a 3-2 loss to Arsenal 24 hours earlier.

Almost two dozen boys saw upwards of an hour of playing time across the two games as they work towards full fitness ahead of the new campaign. The next step in their schedule sees them fly to South-East Asia for high-profile friendlies in Thailand and Malaysia before returning to England for a five-team tournament hosted by Manchester United.

As they head off, Dermot Drummy’s Under-21 are preparing to round off their week in Austria with a friendly against 1860 Munich on Sunday afternoon. First-year scholars Mitchell Beeney, Alex Kiwomya, Islam Feruz and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are amongst those likely to be involved, as is schoolboy Charlie Colkett.

Once back on domestic shores, the U21s face weekend friendlies against Northampton, St Albans City and Kingstonian before beginning their own season.

Under-18s vs Bristol City: Collins (Killip), Dabo (Gordon), Bangura (Conroy), Ssewankambo (Dabo), Nortey (Gnahore), Angban (Wright), Starkey (Houghton), Trialist (Boga), Hunte (Rodriguez), Howard (Cole), Figueira (Mitchell)
