Chelsea have signed highly rated 17 year old Czech defender Tomas Kalas from Sigma Olomouc, for a reported £5 million.
Kalas however, will not be joining up with the club until 2011, as he’s been loaned back to Olomouc for the coming season as part of the deal.
Neil Bath spoke today, confirming the transfer and also giving his opinion on the latest Czech player to join the club. “Tomas has signed, but will spend the first year on loan at his club, Sigma Olomouc, in the Czech Republic.”
Describing Kalas, Bath said; “He is a right-sided centre-half who can play right-back, he’s very athletic and quick. He’s a very good one-on-one defender and comfortable on the ball.
“We feel there is a lot of potential in the player, it is the right time to get him, but it would be good for him to stay there and get first-team experience. We all look forward to him joining us next year.”
So do we. Welcome to Chelsea, Tomas.
