OK so Ancelotti has won a few titles in Serie A and he has also won the Champions League, as well as losing it after being three up against the Scouse Scum. He came to us in a blaze of publicity. But what has he achieved?
It comes to something when I agree with certain hacks who have said we should have walked the league this year with our squad, and the spirit, left to him by Guus, but somehow he has managed, or mis-managed, the squad to now be in a position where we’re chasing Man United again, with the resurgent Gooners in there as well despite us having won all three games against those teams.
Roman, if you believe the media, wants the Champions League (a subject for another rant) above all else and saw Carlo as the man to bring him that missing trophy but, after going out very early by our own recent standards, that faith has already been proved to be false.
From my own perspective I don’t see him as any kind of saviour I just see him as Ranieri Mk II, and let us not forget he didn’t win anything for four years. Where I sit in the MHU we are already in despair at his lack of nous to select the correct teams for the job, his ability change it early enough when his original selections muck it up, and his apparent lack of motivational skills in dealing with this squad of big names.
Point in case when the cameras panned round to him and Wilkins at Blackburn at the weekend they just sat there looking like they had run out of any ideas and, as it turned out, they had.
I return to where I started, Ancelotti’s successes have come from a league that cannot in any way be compared to the English Premier League. Serie A is soft and slow by comparison and to send teams out with a mentality of not losing will win nothing here. I would contend that he is the wrong man to manage Chelsea to domestic league titles which, no matter what Roman and Ancelotti think, is the number priority every season.
Of course it is all about opinions and you are at liberty to want to subscribe to the theory he should be given a chance to sort the squad out in the summer and build “his” team, but I would just say that he has two windows to do that and has changed nothing.
I do not have the confidence that he can do it. Please prove me wrong Carlo, and bring me the League and Cup double this season.

I must admit having watched all the games live this year, if only on TV as I’m in Perth Australia, I came to this conclusion some time ago as well. He does not quite yet have the look of Scolari when he was lost and devoid of ideas, but he is getting close.
I hope in my heart of hearts he proves me wrong, but I hope the team do not cover him in glory (instead of him inspiring them himself) as i feel if he does not go. Next season will be even worse.
If Carlo had a fully fit squad I could manage that team to the title. Sadly Essien and now both our attacking full backs have been injured long term. Luck plays a massive part, Big Phil had no essien, Hiddink did, Carlo did at the start and now he has not. Our form goes up and down depending on him being in or out the side, yes that simple. He’s our most important players by miles.
The squad Carlo has inherited is not his. The biggest problem is that the chelsea team is an ageing one and i think other clubs in the premiership are starting to work chelsea out. Roman needs to invest heavily in the summer and allow ancelotti to bring in his own team, preferably a younger one and only then can we really judge the abilities of Carlo.
That man likes old players. What team will he build if he is campaigning 4 players like anelka 2 get new contract
I personally think that Carlo has the ability to win titles for us, be it the Premiership, or Champions League. I still feel aggrieved however, because José should still be at the club, but that is a different story altogether. I think that *if* Carlo can win us the title this season then it will be a greater achievement than when José won his first with us.
As for Carlo being a Ranieri MKII? I don’t agree. Carlo has a proven track record of winning the Champions League and Serie A titles for Milan. If he hasn’t won anything in four years and he’s still manager then I’ll hold my hands up and say I was incorrect. As mentioned already, this is not Carlo’s squad, a few fresh players to give the others a kick up the backside may be a good thing.
Carlo is not as bad as The Ranter claims. He had a fantastic start of 2009/10 campaign by winning the World Football Challenge and the Community Shield. He won over Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool in a great way. Don’t forget about it. He still can win FA Cup and Premier League and make a historic double for our club. If he does it will be the greatest season in our history! We should keep our fingers crossed and judge Carlo AFTER the season not in the tough END of it. Chins up mates!
KTBFFH!
And now… after beating Aston Villa 7-1, what would you like to say?
After the 7-1 it is pretty clear that CA has had the players all season. He just wore them out by never rotating them.
Meanwhile what do we think of Ranieri now his Roma have just beaten Inter to go just one point behind them in Serie A.
I don’t think anyone would argue that Roma have better players than Inter, or Inter have better players than us.
So there is a good case to say that Ranieri > JM > CA.
To Jasix. I would say that by pure chance in having to rest Drogba he hit upon a system that destroyed Villa, and I have been waiting a long time to shut that lot up, but it took a mediocre first half and in which we huffed and puffed a bit and were sloppy at the back before we saw a rampant Chelsea in the 2nd. Still cannot wipe away some of the previous bad decisions on teams, tactics and substitutions that led to us throwing away a very healthy lead to being grateful to being just one point behind. The fans who started to chant Carlo’s name at the end must have been his family over for Easter.
If further proof was needed that he really, as the popular refrain goes, does not know what he is doing, then please take last Saturday as an example. He admits on Thursday that Mikel is carrying an injury from the Boltoin game and Drogba has a hernia problem that may need an operation. So, even though we have very good back ups in both positions, he starts them both. Net result…Mikel breaks down early and we have to use a sub quickly. Then, after already using the other two subs at half time, Drogba decides that his groin really is troubling him and asks to come off. Too late by then so we play on with an under strength front line to try and get back a two goal deficit. A deficit that could have been one goal less had he not acted sooner by replacing a struggling Paulo before he royally messed for their second. It was obvious to every Chelsea fan there on Saturday that Bale was giving us serious concerns on the left so it was odd then that the well paid manager could not see it unril too late.
Sure the rest of the Chelsea team were dreadful but it was the manager’s pre match decesions that cost us dear.
One game a way now from the League title so I am just mixing up a bit humble ready for the pie. Plus I will throw in my hat as well if we get the double. Still nothing won yet but more hopeful after putting the scum to the sword at Analfield yesterday.
OK. He’s the man. More than happy to eat humble pie yesterday as it was washed down with copious amounts of London Pride. Whatever he did to get inside thier minds after Tottenham it bloody worked and we have the League Title back. Thankfully I can type this as I have no voice this morning. Well done Carlo now bring us the Double.
Carlo should leave chelsea
the man should leave chelsea! but he is good at his job sot get us another
