So Who Are We Going To Sign?

So Who Are We Going To Sign?

It’s been a funny week already, and it’s still only Wednesday. With the World Cup thankfully over, silly season is now fully upon us.

A quick look at Newsnow for the past 24 hours see us linked with no less than ten players; Torres, Aguero, Kaka, Alves, Coentrao, Suarez, Pazzini, Balotelli, Annan, and Lukaku. There are more…

The scattergun approach in selecting our potential transfer targets currently seen in the media is indicative of only one thing. That they certainly DON’T know, who we may yet sign.

However, the majority of us seem to recongise a shift in the transfer policy at Chelsea in recent years, away from the big signings and large spending sprees, towards sensible signings and working towards a budget, whilst reducing the overall age and cost of the squad.

Therefore we can discount Chelsea taking a ‘Man City’ type approach to signings this season, or for the foreseeable future. That said, the break even plan and recent departures do give us more of an indication of those who may be leaving, than those coming in.

Belletti is reported to have gone today, with Deco not far behind him, add to this Ballack and Joey Cole, and we’re looking at a saving already in the region of £300,000 per week, or £15 million a season, on players past their prime.

Then there are rumours who else may be leaving, there’s Carvalho, Deco, Ash Cole, Drogba, Hilario, and any one of a number of ‘failed’ youngsters soon to be shipped out the door too.

Incoming transfers are a different story however, and the press love to speculate more on us splashing the cash, than saving it.

Ancelotti is playing the clubs hand perfectly, with sound-bites that have the journo’s rushing to file headline copy the moment he mentions a players name, to us however, this is classic misdirection, and they are falling for it hook line and sinker.

All of our recent transfers have been quick, and without fuss, with little in terms of media ‘exclusives’ days before the deals are announced.

So who are we going to sign? Sadly we don’t know, but nor do the main stream press either.

We’ll all just have to wait and see.

I believe we should sign a couple young players this season…forget about overated past it Kaka and injury prone Torres..We should go for a young striker in Aguero and Hamsik/Ozil/Sneijder for the attacking midfielder role. Possibly Raul Merilas from Portugal to partner Essien in the middle along with a decent centre half or right back dependin on were Ivanovic will play this season..I.e..Maicon or David Luiz

I agree with “drogba” we need young talent , torres as said that “was a good striker” i dont think he has the THING anymore and neiother does kaka :/ ,all we need is a quick striker to partner drogba .some1 exactly like aguero or if look forward for high hopes i can say sneijder.

Until a couple of seasons ago the “Man City” type approach was know as the “Chelsea” type approach. Does this mean that your plans to financially breakeven has gone to the wind? I am always in favour of taking decisions which make financial sense, but I feel that Joe Cole and Ballack deserved better send offs for the service they gave to the club. Potential transfer targets will definitely take these acts into account and hence Chelsea might struggle in the transfer market.

To quote Mourinho (sort of) “Shut up Drogba”.

Aguero,Aguero and Aguero is all I have to say on the striker position, David luiz for defence and or alves, to cover for right back and centre half…if cashley goes we have yuri zhirkov who is very under rated but as for aguero he has finally come out and said he would love to come to chelsea hes young, lightning quick and ready to moulded into a chelsea no:10 should not cost what has been banded about i reckon 30 mil maybe 35 should do it ….if we could get torres aswell i think we would be well equiped to fight on all fronts specially champions league cos we are CHAMPIONS if you don’t agree to any thing else i’ve wrote you will agree to that ………..!

  4. The1 says:

Benayoun signing was long known by the media. So some reports of interest are definitely legit. Although I’d agree that we’re not going to spend close to 50 mill on anyone. That probably means no Torres or Aguero.
If I had to bet, I’d say next signing is going to be Meireles.

  5. Theriso Matela says:

Chelsea is Boss, but maybe I am too young to football to understand but I don’t think we need to look that far, if Ashley was to leave maybe we could get Bale or Breno, they are young and could be moulded to fit any defensive role, including left back or centre back, not to mention cheap, for now. In midfield best option is Bastian Schwehnsteiger to back up Essien and Mikel. Behind the strikers we could have Oezil, Hamsik, Padolski, Rakitic or if we become over optimistic, we could get Anderson. Then strikers, we could get Aguero, Balotelli or we can trust in Sturridge, Kalou and Anelka. These players are not only cheap, they are young and with Chelsea experience they could become very expensive and even more talented. Either way they would fit into Chelsea well because of their technical ability, team play and strength. Unlike the 30 year old fossil looking midfielder called Yossi Benayoun, 5 million, gone because he will retire soon. And they talk about making wise economic signings. I say Carlo is a bit wrong because it is better to buy strong, young, cheap players who will take over from the old players and stay there for longer, for less. Now that will save us more and win more.

Ancelotti, PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR FANS, YOU MUST GET AGUERO, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  7. Ash says:

Don’t be surprised if very little comes in , the days of throwing cash at the team are gone as Joe Cole will testify. If Ash Cole goes , he will NOT be replaced as we have Yuri, Van Aanholt and Bertrand aswell as Ferreira if needed . Don’t expect a markee signing upfornt either , would Anelka sign an extension if he thought he would become 3rd choice?
Chelsea see the latest bunch of youngsters as the future of the club the same way Man Utd did with Scholes,Beckham,Gigg et all.
The only area of the team that may have mney spent is the midfield, but even there it is more likley a temp signing until the youngsters are ready as Mckechran may need another year.
Chelsea dont need to play football manager anymore , just leave that to the new money at Man City.
