Reports breaking this evening suggest that Chelsea have finalised a deal this week for Celtic’s young forward Islam Feruz.
The Somalian-born Scottish youth international hit the headlines two years ago when playing in the Sky Sports Victory Shield aged just 13 and has long since played above his age group at Celtic Park.
Now, sources at Scotzine – with plenty of other talk to go with it – claim that the youngster has agreed a move to London.
Feruz – who fled troubled Somalia in 2001 and was helped to stay in Scotland by the late Tommy Burns – doesn’t turn 16 until September and is believed to have signed a £2,500 p/w deal which will come into effect as a first year scholar.
He is set to arrive at the club after his birthday.
Celtic, last year’s Scottish Premier League runners up, will receive £300,000 in compensation for one of their prized assets.
Obviously this move remains unconfirmed as of now but watch this space for more as we get it.
