At what point does it become silly?
Another day, another Belgian(ish) played linked with Chelsea. The latest news comes from DH, who suggest that Blues scout Tony White (who does a lot of work in France and the Benelux region) is looking to finalise a deal for Senegalese defender Cheikhou Kouyaté.
The 22 year-old, who wore the number 8 for his country at the London 2012 Olympic Games, would not currently qualify for a work permit but DH claim that he is in the latter stages of finalising paperwork to acquire Belgian citizenship.
A fee of €7m has been floated for the 6’4″ youngster, who can also play in midfield, with talk that some or part of the fee would be bonus/incentive-based. Roma, Arsenal, and Tottenham are all also believed to be interested.
Chelsea have already signed three players from Anderlecht this summer, with brothers Lamisha, Tika and Charly Musonda all moving to London.
