Chelsea’s teenage Brazilian forward Lucas Piazon will spend pre-season with Roberto Di Matteo’s first team squad in the United States.
The squad flies out to the West Coast tomorrow and amongst the travelling party will be 18 year-old Piazon, who impressed during much of last season and twice featured as an unused substitute.
He is yet to debut for the first team but in a message sent by his public relations team, that opportunity may well arrive in the first match of the tour against the Seattle Sounders next Wednesday night.
Chelsea will then travel across four stats in fourteen days, taking in matches against Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and the MLS All-Star selection in New York, Miami and Philadelphia respectively.
Opportunities are traditionally afforded to youngsters during pre-season schedules and after Slobodan Rajkovic, Nathaniel Chalobah, Josh McEachran, Billy Clifford and Jamal Blackman featured under Andre Villas-Boas last summer, Piazon could be joined by some other promising talents.
Mexican forward Ulises Dávila has previously mentioned that he believes he will be a part of the squad, whilst Todd Kane and Sam Hutchinson as well as McEachran, Clifford and Blackman are also likely to come into consideration.
