So, to the Loan Army. Batshuayi, Hazard and Alvaro Morata all scored this weekend, which is probably something we’ve never said about Chelsea before, and might not in future either. As we still try to work out what happens after Wembley for the first team, let’s have a bit of light relief and catch up on the last seven days.
Headliners
Morata thought he’d scored earlier in midweek against Juventus in the Champions League, but saw his effort ruled out by VAR. Having had one disallowed against Real Madrid in the league a fortnight ago too, he was cursing his luck somewhat, but finally managed to get off the mark for Atlético against Villarreal on Sunday.
Morata goal disallowed. Var having a shocker in this game.https://t.co/EdkrOYdrGx

He joined Michy Batshuayi in opening his account for his new loan club this weekend; the Batsman grabbing the first of four Crystal Palace goals away to Leicester in a win that resulted in the departure of Foxes manager Claude Puel. As goals go, it wasn’t a classic, but his invention in redirecting James McArthur’s speculative shot past Kasper Schmeichel certainly deserves sage nods of approval.
Hazard – of the Kylian variety – scored his third and fourth goals of the campaign on Saturday to help Cercle Brugge fight back from behind late at home to Oostende.
England
Kenedy played the last twenty or so minutes of Newcastle’s win over Huddersfield while Kurt Zouma and Everton had no fixture.
Championship
The big loanee clash of the week saw Reece James’ Wigan host Trevoh Chalobah’s Ipswich at the DW Stadium, and both players did themselves justice in a match where the spoils were shared. Chalobah looked to have earned the bragging rights until the very end, when James popped up with a crucial assist to help claim a 1-1 draw for his team.
Bristol City’s nine-match winning run in the league came to an end at league leaders Norwich; Tomas Kalas played the full match, while Jay Dasilva got 71 minutes before making way for Kasey Palmer.
Tammy Abraham was held off the scoresheet for the third match in succession as Aston Villa drew 1-1 at Stoke City, but Michael Hector was in good form for Sheffield Wednesday in their win over Swansea despite the visitors’ consolation goal owing much to a heavy deflection off the Jamaican international defender.
Todd Kane was booked as Hull were beaten 5-1 by a rampant Brentford, Matt Miazga and Lewis Baker each got a good ninety minutes in Reading’s 1-1 draw with Rotherham, and Izzy Brown was an unused substitute as Leeds beat Bolton.
Fikayo Tomori and Derby were beaten 1-0 by Millwall in midweek but have a big East Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest on Monday night. Mason Mount isn’t expected to be able to return from injury in time for that one.
League One
Brad Collins’ Burton Albion have kept more clean sheets in 2019 than any other Football League side, and there was another one for him in midweek – his eighth of the season overall – as the Brewers drew 0-0 at Barnsley. A 1-0 defeat at home to Fleetwood on Saturday was cause for disappointment, however.
Dujon Sterling, one of League One’s more progressive full-backs this term, held his own for Coventry in a 1-1 draw against runaway leaders Luton, who are now 21 matches unbeaten.

League Two
In a banner weekend for goalkeepers and leadership, Nathan Baxter was handed the Yeovil Town captaincy for a must-win match at home to Cambridge United. He responded with his eleventh shutout in 27 matches and a 1-0 win, and as a result he continues to be a huge fan favourite at Huish Park.Josh Grant remains injured.
Jacob Maddox also helped guide Cheltenham to a (midweek) win over Cambridge, and followed it with 79 minutes in victory at home to Port Vale four days later. The six points were most welcome in their own fight against relegation.

Non-League
Jack Wakely was back for Basingstoke in their 2-1 defeat to Salisbury.
Spain
Kenneth Omeruo took up his usual place at the heart of Leganés’ defence in their 1-1 draw against Valencia on Sunday.
Josi Quintero played just over an hour of Lleida’s 3-2 win over Valencia’s Mestalla B team.
Netherlands
Vitesse beat Emmen 3-0 with Eduardo and Jake Clarke-Salter present and correct as usual – the Portuguese custodian joining in the weekend’s clean sheet fun with his fifth of 2018-19, and there was also good news for Charly Musonda as he returned to Arnhem to train with the group on Wednesday. He was injured in a friendly in early September and has been sidelined ever since.
Fankaty Dabo played all of Sparta Rotterdam’s 6-1 win over Go Ahead Eagles.
Italy
Going from strength to strength at Torino, Ola Aina played all ninety minutes at left-back in a 2-0 win over Atalanta to give his team the edge in the race for Europa League football next season. Mario Pašalić completed the match for the visitors.
Tiémoué Bakayoko received plenty of praise for his impact in Milan’s 3-0 win over Empoli; the Frenchman was withdrawn ten minutes from time after his latest very positive display.
Lucas Piazon played a few moments of stoppage time as Chievo shared a forgettable goalless draw with Genoa.
Germany
Christian Pulisic’s hamstring injury kept him out of Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Leverkusen on Sunday.
France
Baba Rahman played as Reims won 4-2 at Montpellier in Ligue 1 while Victorien Angban played the last twelve minutes of Metz’s 2-0 win over Paris FC in the second tier.
Turkey
Victor Moses completed his first full outing for Fenerbahce as they exited the Europa League away to Zenit St Petersburg in midweek, and now prepares himself for Monday night’s trip to Besiktas.
Serbia
Danilo Pantic’s injury sidelined him for Partizan’s 3-0 win at home to Proleter.
Northern Ireland
Jared Thompson and Warrenpoint were beaten 2-0 at home by Cliftonville.
Brazil
Nathan played the last twenty minutes as a substitute for Atlético-MG versus Villa Nova.
